Go lie down on the bed and cry and I'll bring you some toys."
Maya and I were colouring together when she suddenly asked:"Mummy, are you my friend?""Of course I am, sweetheart. I'll always be your friend."At which point she leaned over, gave me a hug and a kiss and then promptly went back to her colouring.It's moments like this....
Maya has been in trouble a fair bit recently for whining. It's been a struggle to get her to think first and whine second, as her default is to start whining and crying as soon as she begins to feel frustrated about something.
She asked me if I wanted to play Shopping List, so I replied that I would but that she needed to get it set up first and then I would come and play with her. When I walked back into the room, she was sitting with all the Shopping List pieces scattered around her, drumming her heels on the floor and making a fizzing sound through her clenched teeth.
As soon as she saw me, she adamantly stated:
"I'm not whining! I'm saying FZZZZZZZZZZZT!"
At least she's found a vent for her frustrations that doesn't set my teeth on edge :D
